Caritas Georgia has been working in Georgia since November 1994 as an officially registered NGO. The organization works in a difficult context of political, social and economic change. Currently the country is dealing with major problems such as the deteriorating agriculture infrastructure, poverty, and large-scale migration. In order to achieve their mission- promoting human development and social justice and helping vulnerable and disadvantaged people- Caritas Georgia focuses on emergency aid and rehabilitation, on social and medical assistance, on the development of activities for their target groups, and on financing social activities. More information about the activities of Caritas Georgia can be found on their website: http://www.caritas.ge.
David Mkheize has been the local contact person of Caritas Belgium in Georgia since 2008. When returnees call the office of Caritas Georgia after returning, they get in touch with him.
30 people have been assisted by Caritas Georgia since the beginning of our project in 2007.

In March 2009 Caritas Belgium met Mr Miklidadze. The man wanted to return to Georgia but had nothing left in his country. He was not very sure about the budget we could provide for him and how he would use it, but he definitely needed an income which is why we decided to help him. Before making an actual decision, Mr.Miklidadze wanted to find out more about the current situation and the possibilities on the market. One option was to open a garage with his brother who also worked in auto-mechanics. They could repair or sell cars. Another option was to take some courses in computer-mechanic programs.
When Mr. Miklidadze first contacted our partner, David from Caritas Georgia, he seemed quite motivated. David reported to us the following:
''He needs a computer that can detect mechanical problems and will therefore need to install a program on his computer. He is eager to communicate with us. His brother who is working with him, will pay for the expenses of the computer program. I do not think he will use the computer for private use because he is 42 and quite open and educated.''
In June 2009 we got the news that mr Miklidadze had used the reintegration budget to buy a Notebook and some other equipment, and that he is attending a course of car diagnostics at the training center. He planned to open a small diagnostic centre together with some relatives and friends.
