Country Information

Togo (officially the Togolese Republic) is a country in West Africa bordered by Ghana to the west, Benin to the east and to the north. It extends south to the Gulf of Guinea, on which the capital Lomé is located. Togo covers an area of approximately 57,000 square kilometres with a population of approximately 6.7 million.

The Togolese community in Belgium lives mainly in Brussels and Liege. The most important Togolese communities are in France and Germany, the old colonial powers.

Partner

BCGO ('Bureau de conseil en gestion et organisation') Togo was founded in 1991 and is based in Lomé. This agency can count on a network of consultants throughout the country and has opened a branch office in the central region of Togo. BCGO supports both local development and private sector initiatives. Specialized in business creation, it assists during the whole creation process, in various fields such as printing, agriculture, bakeries etc. 

BCGO Togo is the local partner of Caritas Belgium since 2008. Its director, M. Kizito Gozo, has been working in the field of voluntary return and reintegration for years thanks to a partnership with the french NGO PMIE. M. Gozo is closely involved in the development of the projects of the returnees.  Thanks to his contacts and network, the returnees can access micro-finance institutions at the beginning of their project, which facilitates its implementation.

M. Gozo has already participated to 2 partner weeks and one african partners meeting in Brussels.
