Senegal officially the Republic of Senegal (République du Sénégal), is a country south of the Senegal Rirver in western Africa. Senegal covers a land area of almost 197,000 km², and has an estimated population of about 13.7 million.
Senegalese diaspora is present all across Europe, and is important in Brussels and Antwerpen. Returnees are mainly men willing to start an Income Generating Activity.

Caritas Senegal is one of the oldest african NGOs, founded after the second world war under the name "Secours Catholique". Its principal objectives are to provide both direct and indirect support for the poorest and most disadvantaged groups, to coordinate humanitarian action and to help its beneficiaries become the agents of their own development.
The organization works with the Government and a number of international partners to carry out its projects, which include emergency assistance as required, health programmes, development of infrastructures and skills training for young people. Caritas Senegal is organized in five commissions: for water management, justice and peace, administration and finance, communications and emergency aid. It responds to the needs of all Senegalese people who ask for help or find themselves in need.
Caritas Senegal has worked with Caritas Belgium in the field of Migration and voluntary return since 2007. Abbé Ambroise Tine and Father Aloïs Sarr are responsible for the voluntary return and reintegration program funded by Caritas Belgium.
In a country where most returnees came to Europe for economic reasons and return with income generating projects, we can count on a highly specialized local partner.
